The Chief Engineer leads a team of 50 team members at a 200+ keys resort overseeing engineering/technical and public area staff to effectively maintain all resort facilities, equipment, and property. The Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining proper working relations within the department and with other operating departments on property and for providing outstanding guest satisfaction.
The Rate of pay for this role is $55.91 per hour. This is a union position – LOCAL 399.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that maintenance and public area SOP’s are being followed as outlined in the SOP manual.
- Accountable for the safe and efficient maintenance of the resort through proper supervision and management of Engineering, technical and public area staff.
- Assists, as required, in solving complex maintenance problems.
- Directs the implementation of maintenance plans with consideration to operational and budgetary constraints.
- Schedules and performs routine/preventive/emergency maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Works with other department managers to schedule and coordinate inspections and repairs.
- Hires, trains and supervises maintenance staff.
- Organizes and conducts monthly department meetings.
- Develop, implement, and monitor all maintenance policies and procedures, inspections and schedules, and maintain logs and reports.
- Manages and achieves budget compliance by implementing proper cost controls i.e.: purchase orders/inventory, reviews/bids, etc.
- Establishes both short and long-term budgets and forecasts for the Engineering Department. Displays sound judgement in managing cost control measures.
- Provides outstanding guest satisfaction and courteous cooperation with fellow associates in all departments.
What we are looking for?
- Ability to follow basic written and verbal directions, climb stairs and work on ladders up to 40′, push/pull up to 50 lbs., lift/carry up to 50 lbs., grasp, stoop, reach overhead
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or comparable industry experience and/or Technical Trade School education
- 8+ years Maintenance Industry/Hospitality experience. 6 years in a leadership
- Ability to write and speak English to comprehend and communicate job functions to engineering staff.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Extensive knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry and safety operating systems. Knowledge in OSHA regulations, National, State and Local building regulations and codes, equipment operations and preventive maintenance procedures; Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks; Microsoft Office Systems proficiency; Microsoft Project and CAD (Computer-aided design) experience a plus; Facility specific skills to include but not limited to Hot SOS, TSW, BORS, etc.
